Oriental Tarot 1845

Oriental Tarot 1845

The Oriental Tarot by Claudio Foudraz is a remarkable piece of tarot history, a lithographed deck from around 1845 whose existence was completely unknown until a private collector rediscovered it in 2010 and the find was made public in 2014 through The Playing Card magazine. The original uncut sheets are held at the Academy of Sciences in Turin, which authorized this limited edition reprint. The deck reflects the era’s fashionable interest in chinoiserie, and its booklet documents historian Giordano Berti’s research into Foudraz’s work as a lithographer. Available in a deluxe book-shaped box or a standard telescopic box, both handcrafted by Italian artisans using marbleized paper and designed by Letizia Rivetti. Each set includes both historical notes and divinatory card meanings.
