The Goddess Tarot Deck
The Goddess Tarot gives the traditional tarot structure a thorough rethinking by placing goddess mythology at the center of every card. Each Major Arcana card tells the story of a different goddess drawn from world cultures, turning the familiar archetypes into windows onto ancient feminine wisdom. The Minor Arcana are organized around four goddesses, one per suit, connecting the four elements to Venus, Isis, Lakshmi, and Freyja respectively.
Kris Waldherr's illustrations are detailed and richly atmospheric, with an ornate quality that rewards careful looking. The deck earned notable praise for its beauty early on, and it has remained one of the most visually striking goddess-themed decks available. An instructional booklet written by Waldherr accompanies the cards.

Kris Waldherr is an artist and author whose books for both adults and children include The Book of Goddesses, Doomed Queens, and Bad Princess. Her picture book Persephone and the Pomegranate was noted by the New York Times Book Review for its mythic quality. As a visual artist, she created the Goddess Tarot, which has sold over a quarter of a million copies. Her work has been exhibited at institutions including the National Museum of Women in the Arts and the Mazza Museum of International Art from Picture Books.
